Granite Bay Software

About Granite Bay Software

In 1983 Mike Posehn founded Granite Bay Software and subsequently developed the award winning "Strike" series of video games published by Electronic Arts. With over 4 million units sold, the Strike® series has been one of the most popular video games for the Sega Genesis and Sony Playstation consoles.

Mike is one of the pioneers of the personal computer industry. He earned a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering and a M.S. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley. After a short stint at Lawrence Livermore Lab, he set out on his own developing software for the earliest models of personal computers. Before founding Granite Bay Software, Mike authored several other popular programs including Milestone, VisiSchedule, Get Organized and Deluxe Video.

Earlier Software Products

Electronic Arts published DeluxeVideo III for the Amiga personal computer in 1988. DeluxeVideo III was the first “desktop video” product and pioneered the way for other animation and video related products.

GetOrganized was the first integrated personal information management program (PIM) and was published by Electronic Arts in 1985. It was ahead of its time, since most computers then were limited to 640K of RAM and dual floppy disk drives.

VisiSchedule was published in 1980 by VisiCorp as a companion to the legendary VisiCalc. It was an adaptation of Milestone developed for the Apple II and later the Apple III personal computers. The Apple II target was limited to 48K or RAM and a 40 character by 24 line text display.

Milestone was the first project management program developed for personal computers. Digital Marketing published Milestone for CP/M based computers in 1979. It was later released by hardware OEMs including DEC, NEC, and the fleeting Osborne Computer Corporation. Milestone was targeted to 8080 and Z80 based computers with as little as 32K of RAM and one floppy disk drive.
